Jan Hercog is an Austrian open water swimmer qualified to race the 2022 World Championships across 10 kilometres. He is the top-ranked swimmer at the nationally-acclaimed Union Schwimmclub Graz which holds several Austrian records, has produced state champions, and sent athletes to European and world championships. He barely missed the 2020 Tokyo Olympics marathon swimming cut-off by five seconds. With his qualification for the 2022 World Championship 10km in place, he hopes to qualify for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
The documentary showcases not only the audacious yet ultimately successful attempt to race the full distance of triathlon in under seven hours for men and under eight hours for women, but also the two-year build-up leading into the challenge following all six athletes involved.
Two-time world champion and Olympic gold medalist Kristian Blummenfelt made history today, becoming the first man to complete a full distance triathlon under seven hours.
