Alistair Brownlee
“I was fascinated by the Sub 2-hour marathon project. Not only was it about producing the ultimate human performance on the day; but also, it was about pushing all aspects of performance to see how fast a human could go.”

Bio
Alistair Brownlee is a two-time Olympic gold medallist, two-time ITU World Champion, and four-time European champion. He is the only person to have ever defended Olympic triathlon gold, and the first person to win the ITU Triathlon World Championship titles for Junior (2006), U23 (2008) and Senior (2009).
His 2012 and 2016 Olympic gold medals cemented his status as one of the sport’s best, but his greatest coup may yet be ahead of him with the 2021 Tokyo Olympics and the Ironman World Championship both in his sights.
Ali won the 2006 World Junior Championships and realized, after studying medicine for a term at Cambridge, that he wanted to pursue triathlon full time. He moved back to Yorkshire to train while earning a degree in Sports Science and Physiology at Leeds University.
His transition to Ironman racing in 2019 was not without its bumps; while he qualified for the Ironman World Championship in Kona by winning Ironman Ireland with a cancelled swim, his maiden race in Kona suffered due to a lack of experience in putting an entire Ironman together and pacing it to win. He took the lessons learned to win Ironman Western Australia, setting a new course record.
Ali has also tasted success over the half distance with two 70.3 World Championship silver medals.
